An interesting study was done which showed that competitors who came in third place were happier than competitors who came in second place. This was because the second place winners were upset that they didn't come in first while the third place winners were often glad that they received a medal. In the race of life who won, the happier third place winner or the unhappy second place winner? What about the people who enjoyed the race while they ran it? When we choose to be happy we are all winners.
