If we are in an amorous relationship we often tell our partner our secrets. Many a partner who loves us today is angry with us tomorrow. The restoration playwright William Congreve wrote "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor Hell a fury like a woman scorned". A woman scorned is not someone we want possessing our most intimate secrets.
During her affair with President Clinton Monica Lewinsky told him that "I would always deny it. I would always protect him". Yet she told the lurid details to Kenneth Starr and those details are available in the Starr report on the internet for everyone to see.
