Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Chinese proverb

If we want our situation to improve a good way to start is to examine how our own actions create the situation we are in.  People don't like to blame themselves for their situation, it's much easier to accept that things are the way they are without blaming oneself.  It's much easier to blame others when things aren't the way we want them to be.

Although this may help our self esteem in the short term we pay a price for doing this.  If we don't recognize how our actions or lack of actions contribute to our situation than we won't change them and so will stay trapped in our current situation.  Our inability to improve our situation may cause low self esteem in the long term.  If we blame others for our situation than we create paranoia toward them which will hurt our relationships with them.  In order to change one's situation for the better it may be valuable to ask oneself the following questions: (Try and answer them as you read them.)
